We recommend comfortable or stretchy sportswear and most clients prefer bare feet. However, if you prefer to wear socks, please bring a pair. We have lovely changing and showering facilities with towels for hire. At your first session, please arrive 10 minutes early to complete a health questionnaire.
Depending on fitness levels and ability, we suggest a minimum of two sessions a week to start. As strength and flexibility increase more classes can be added.
Classic pilates tends to focus on subtle, slow and controlled movements with low reps. The introduction of aerobic pilates, however, allows our clients to gain all the benefits of classic pilates principles but due to the higher intensity and increase in resistance your heart rate tends to raise more, allowing an increase in calorie burn - between 500-800 calories per session. This technique is ideal for weight loss, increased strength and long lean muscle tone. Results can be seen within ten sessions.
If you are starting Tempo Pilates and this is near to the date of our monthly Workshop, the Workshop would be a beneficial introduction to the Tempo Pilates method, before embarking on group classes. It will teach you our full repertoire in detail over 60 minutes with hands on tuition from our trainer. However, it is not compulsory before starting classes with us, as all of our beginner/intermediate classes are suitable for those unfamiliar with Pilates, or the Tempo Pilates method.
The Workshop is beneficial to all of our students, especially those who have not experienced the Tempo Pilates reformer method before, or who currently attend our beginner/intermediate level classes. It will teach our full repertoire in detail, giving you a greater understanding and knowledge of the Tempo Pilates method which will in turn aid your progression with us.
One-on-one sessions prior to a class are optional but would be useful. Beginner / Intermediate classes are scheduled to help you understand the method and learn the repertoire at a slow pace. If required, please mail us at info@tempopilates.com for further information or book a one-on-one session.
All booked classes require 24 hours cancellation notice prior to a class or you will be charged in full.
You can come to any class at Tempo Pilates whilst trying to become pregnant. During your pregnancy you can attend one of our beginner/intermediate classes at our E8 Studio with one of our experienced antenatal trainers. Pregnant students who are reaching their 20th week or who are pregnant and new to the Tempo Pilates method should have a one to one session with Daniel le Roux or Michael Sherlock who will teach you the necessary modifications required to continue/take classes and who will ultimately give you the personal support and guidance that both you and your baby deserve. You can return to beginner/int classes 6 weeks after giving birth, or 12 weeks after a caesarean. Note: You must alert our reception and trainer of your pregnancy prior to your class so that we can provide you with the best possible care.
Absolutely. If you're interested in scheduling a one-on-one training session, please email us info@tempopilates.com
Numerous professional athletes across a wide range of sports have added flexibility and core strengthening to their existing fitness routines by using Pilates. It reduces the risk of injury, enhances body conditioning and improves performance. In addition, many of our clients find the variety and intensity of our classes to be the perfect toning complement to cardio training.
